Taquería El Rey de Oros
About This Spot
Stepping into Taquería El Rey de Oros is like finding a familiar corner of Mexico tucked quietly into West Jordan. The energy here is warm and unhurried—where the hum of conversation mingles with the easy clatter of dishes and the subtle, inviting aromas from the kitchen. It’s the kind of place where families gather, friends catch up, and anyone with a curiosity for authentic flavors feels welcomed without fuss.
The space itself feels grounded and honest, a neighborhood gem that quietly honors tradition without pretense. There’s a sense of rhythm that mirrors the ebb and flow of everyday life—people popping in for a quick taco that hits just right or lingering over plates that invite sharing and conversation.
Here, the menu is a gentle journey through classic Mexican comfort food, each bite layered with thoughtful spice and fresh ingredients. Whether it’s the satisfying crunch of a perfectly grilled jalapeño, the heartiness of a carne asada plate, or the subtle warmth of a rich pozole broth, every dish seems to hold a story of home and heritage. It’s not just about the food, but the moments it fosters: the quiet delight of a child savoring a quesadilla, the casual ease of sharing a three-taco combo with a friend, the simple pleasure of churros after a flavorful meal.
The experience at Taquería El Rey de Oros feels like a local treasure—steady and genuine, a place where food connects people across generations and backgrounds. It’s not flashy, but it leaves a lasting warmth, the kind that makes you want to return and explore a little more each time.

What a hidden gem! The menu led me to Believe that this was going to be betos style food. Boy was I wrong! It is so good and packed with flavor! The salsa was amazing and the chips were crisp! My 3 year old is picky with food and the quesadilla was an easy win to him. Very good!

We got two huge plates of food for a total of $23 including tax. That included two beef burritos, a sope, a soft taco with the Mexican vegetables on the side. I highly recommend it. Look at the photo of the food. Lots of great options under $10.

Great place for some street tacos! They have several specials on a daily basis . My favorite is three street tacos and a drink for under $10. Don’t pass this place up . Take it from a fat man. YUM

This place is delicious. We used to go to this restaurant back when it was on 900 west and followed them to this new location and they are still as good and same ingredients.

I love this place! The food is delicious and the staff members are so friendly. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get too! So far I have loved the carne asada and al pastor tacos with rice and beans. I tried a sope today too and it was hot, fresh, and so tasty! All of their meals are served with a beverage. I loved the Jamaica and their horchata. My husband and my son both had burritos and really enjoyed them. The carnitas were exceptional. We also loved their salsa—just the right amount of heat! I personally love the pickled carrots and jalapeños too. I know I’ll be back with more friends and family. I highly recommend you support this restaurant! I want them to be around for a long time!

We got the beef quesadilla which my 6 year old LOVED. Good flavor. We also got the nachos. Fresh salsa, the carne asada was soft and not chewy. Just wish there was more than just the layer on top cause it was good. Decent portions. Cashier was kind.

This is our 3rd time coming to this spot and it’s never disappointed. The food is always on point consistency has been there all 3 times. The price is also great the Taste is even better. We have ordered tortas, tacos, sopes, burritos , and menudo. Everything is so tasty and quantity is good. They have pickled jalapeños with onions and carrots to dieeeee for! Definitely a great spot the staff wears masks and socially distance tables.
